Meet the FairPlay Team
As well as our fantastic teachers, there are three key people who keep FairPlay up and running:
Fanny Huañec Cabana
Fanny, our President, was born in Lima in 1975 and has lived in Cusco since she was eight years old. She secured a degree (with distinction) in Spanish literature and communication from the University of Cusco, before going on to spend four years teaching for one of the leading private Spanish schools in the city. Fanny then worked as an assistant to the director of one of Cusco’s public schools, before deciding to channel her skills and experience into her own school – one that would really give something back to her community. Fanny organises the education programs and manages the teachers at FairPlay, ensuring quality and continuity. She and her husband John are the proud parents of young twin boys.
John Adriaenssens
John was born in Antwerp, Belgium in 1966, and first visited Peru in 1995. He was immediately hooked on the place, and also determined to do something about the poverty that he found in Cusco. After three further trips as a tourist, he still could not get the city out of his system and in September 2005 he decided to make his permanent home here.
John is FairPlay’s secretary and the driving force of our team. He studied electrical engineering at the St Jozef Institute in Schoten, Antwerp and has 15 years experience of working in Europe as an account and project manager. He met Fanny, now his wife, in early 2006 and together they created FairPlay. He is responsible for fundraising, communications, dealing with clients, as well as developing new ideas. He speaks fluent Spanish, English and Dutch.
